First Two Weeks of the Spring 2022 Semester Online

Dear Arcadia Community, 

As the COVID-19 Omicron variant continues to spread and regional hospitals are reporting the number of patients on the rise, Arcadia is sharing the following developments related to the spring 2022 semester:

  • While the spring semester will begin as scheduled on Tuesday, Jan. 18, the first two weeks of spring semester instruction will be conducted online, except for the Physician Assistant and Physical Therapy sessions currently scheduled in person for early to mid-January. 

  • On-campus instruction will begin Monday, Jan. 31, for all classes currently scheduled to meet in person. 

  • COVID testing will play a crucial role in managing the return to campus. All students, faculty, and staff, regardless of vaccination status, are required to get tested upon returning to campus. 

    • New transfer and returning residential students must make appointments in advance for COVID testing before moving back in. 

    • Information on appointment scheduling will be sent to all residential students by Jan. 6. Appointments are required to manage entrance testing and stagger the return of students to campus.

    • All employees must be tested for COVID before returning to work on campus. Those who aren’t essential for on-campus operations are encouraged to work remotely until the last week of January and then be tested before they return to work.

    • Arcadia recommends that residential students who can get tested on their own do so before returning to campus (especially those who live far from Glenside). 

    • Any residential students who test positive upon their return to campus and have a permanent residence within 150 miles of campus will be required to go home and isolate there. 

    • Further details on testing for the spring semester will be shared soon. 

We urge you to continue to follow mitigation measures in your home communities during winter break and remain aware of health and safety measures in your local communities and public places. 

Students, staff, and faculty who tested positive for COVID over winter break must report it through the Self Disclosure Form and follow the latest guidance from the CDC regarding isolation and quarantine.

Get Your Booster Shot: The CDC and Arcadia strongly recommend that vaccinated people 18 and older receive a booster to increase their protection. While Arcadia plans on hosting additional vaccine clinics on campus in January, individuals can receive the COVID booster at local and county health clinics and area pharmacies and stores, including participating Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Giant, and other stores. Check your area for locations and appointment requirements.
