The Open Expression Task Force invites the University community to come together on Friday, Feb. 22, for an Arcadia UKnighted event, "Freedom of Speech on Campus," with Dr. Sigal Ben-Porath, professor of Education, Political Science, and Philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania. The event is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Commons Great Room. Please RSVP if you plan on attending; having an accurate number of attendees will allow the Open Expression Task Force best plan for the event's community involvement.
Dr. Ben-Porath will present on her book, Free Speech on Campus, which examines the current state of the free speech arguments through real-world examples and offers framework for re-thinking free-speech controversies both inside and outside the college classroom.
The event also will examine the draft principles of open expression and definitions that the Open Expression Task Force have crafted for the Arcadia community. Community members are encouraged to review the attached principles and definitions and to provide feedback to the Task Force.
