"Music to My Ears: Memory, Cognition, and Musical Training"
Faculty Discussion & Breakfast

Explore the relationships between cognition, music, and the brain with faculty panelists Dr. Katherine Sledge Moore, assistant professor of Psychology, and Dr. Barbara Nodine, professor emerita of Psychology. Pinar Oguz '18 joins the panel to speak to her role as Dr. Moore's co-author on recently published research on music and cognition as an undergraduate student researcher and young alumna working in the psychology field. The distinguished panel will speak to the process of their research, highlight the psychology of music, and share insight into the long-term benefits of musical training from piano lessons to marching band. You will enjoy a light breakfast during this discussion examining the connection between cognitive functioning and aging. [$5]

Experience the Museum of the American Revolution

Climb aboard our luxury coach and step back in time to the late 18th century at the Museum of the American Revolution. Newly opened in 2017, the museum owns a distinguished collection of artwork, sculpture, textiles, weapons, manuscripts, and rare books that help tell the story of the American Revolution. You will have the opportunity to take a self-guided audio tour, after which you may grab lunch or a snack at the Cross Keys Café or explore the gift shop before returning to Arcadia with a richer knowledge of the nation's founding era. President Ajay Nair and Mrs. Paayal Nair will welcome you and your classmates back to campus and join you for a dinner reception as you share laughs and memories with those friends you haven’t seen in a few years. Enjoy picking out familiar faces in the crowd as you meet the Nair family and Arcadia alumni from far and wide arriving on campus for Alumni Weekend. [$25]

Spend the morning catching up with classmates over a celebratory morning brunch, complete with mimosas and bloody marys. You’ll be seated with members of your class and will be treated to special performances by Arcadia’s talented students as you fuel up for an exciting day. Afterward, stay for the Alumni Association's annual meeting. [$30]

Reminisce on old times and see how much the campus has changed since your last visit. You’re bound to learn new things along the way! Virtual Reality Experience: Sponsored by the Class of 1999

Academic Technology Services has designed and developed a Virtual Reality Lab to allow the Arcadia community to experience this new and emerging technology. Facilitators will be on hand to set you up with sensors and interactive controllers that will enable you to immerse yourself in an exciting virtual environment. Registration is not required. [Complimentary]

Sunderman Chamber Music Concert

This year's Dr. F. William and Martha-Lee Taggart Sunderman Concert will feature The Philadelphia Flute Quartet, a professional ensemble dedicated to the performance of music for multiple flutes. A reception featuring light refreshments will follow the performance. This free event is supported by the Dr. F. William and Martha-Lee Taggart Sunderman '55 Endowed Fund at Arcadia University. [Complimentary]
