In this engaging panel, you will learn the ins and outs of personal finance from professional financial planners Nathan Hayward '06, '09MBA; William Downey '09MBA; and Mohammed Zubairu '15MBA. Bring your questions and gain best practices for saving, investing, and planning for the future, no matter your stage of life.

You'll also have the opportunity to network with fellow alumni before and after the discussion.

Registration is $10 and includes the program and a reception with beer, wine, and soft drinks. (Panel discussion will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.)

About the Speakers
William Downey '09MBA

William Downey is an enthusiast about personal finance. As an Arcadia MBA alumnus, he is very excited to get a chance to speak with other alumni on this fascinating topic.

Downey is currently a Financial Controller for SAP, a German Enterprise Application Software Company Located in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Prior to SAP, Downey spent over a decade at The Boeing Company in several roles in Finance, including supply chain and operations. 

Prior to Boeing, he attended the School of Business Administration at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado where he served as president of the Business Club and was co- captain of the Skyhawks lacrosse team. During his undergraduate education, he also attended business school at École supérieure de commerce in La Rochelle, France. Downey holds bachelor's and master's degrees in International Business Administration.

Downey lives in Haddon Township, N.J. with his wife Jessica, son Connor (4), and daughter Charlotte (2).

Nathan Hayward '06, '09MBA

As a director and shareholder with Concentus Wealth Advisors, Nathan J. Hayward serves as a lead advisor for his private clients and institutional investors. As a graduate of Arcadia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration & Economics and an MBA with distinction, he has applied his knowledge to the creation of a private investment company named Grasmere, LLC. and is an active board member and shareholder of Vallis & Hayward, LTD.  As an advocate of continuing education, he has also earned his Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) and Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designations.

During his career pursuits, he has been recognized with notable awards from the following organizations:  Concentus Wealth Advisors named to the Financial Times FT 300 Top Registered Investment Advisers for 2016 and 2017, received Arcadia University’s Young Alumni Golden Disc for Distinguished Achievement Award (2016), and received Arcadia University’s “40 Under 40” (2018). Further, his civic duties include his service as a Financial Advisory Board Investment Committee member for the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia and he is actively involved with Arcadia University’s MBA Alumni Association.

For some fun facts, he was born in Hamilton, Bermuda (on “The Rock’) and his family immigrated to the United States when he was six years old. He was raised in Bridgewater, N.J. and currently lives in Fort Washington, Pa., with his wife Jennifer and son Harrison.

Mohammed Zubairu '15MBA

Mohammed Zubairu has been in the Financial Services industry for 11 years, working with individuals and businesses to create solutions that are customized to meet his clients' goals.  He has experience with traditional deposit and debt solutions as well as investment and insurance solutions.  He has been employed in leadership positions at some of the most recognized firms in the world, Royal Bank of Scotland’s Citizens Bank, Bank of New York Mellon, and Bank of America.  He studied at the International School of Paris, University of Paris X, the University of Phoenix, and Arcadia University.  Zubairu was a candidate for the International Baccalaureate and holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Business and an MBA from Arcadia University.

Zubairu is passionate about community and educational issues.  He has a history of working with community organizations that provide social services as well as dollars to cherished causes.  He regularly serves as a mentor to children in schools; he actively engages in activities to show a positive model of citizen involvement. 

As an individual who is fluent in French and Yoruba, and familiar with those cultures, Zubairu brings the value of a unique global perspective to his audience, a perspective that is particularly valuable in our world today.
