Independent Contractor Training Webinar

Wednesday, July 15, 2020 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

As you know, your departments often engage independent contractors, guest lecturers, guest speakers, and others. It is important to correctly classify independent contractors so they can be paid properly, and so the University can meet its tax obligations. This University maintains an Independent Contractor/Employee Classification Policy that sets forth the criteria that define independent contractors and the required procedures to correctly classify and pay them. But, we know that questions often remain, and we want to ensure that we are providing opportunities for training and engagement on this topic.

The Office of Human Resources, the Office of the Provost, and the Office of General Counsel are sponsoring a training webinar on Wednesday, July 15 at 12:00 p.m., conducted through Zoom (information below), to review key concepts related to the engagement of independent contractors and engage in Q&A. This webinar will be recorded and posted to the University Policy Library for future reference.

We hope that if you engage independent contractors as part of your responsibilities for the University, you will consider joining us. Please RSVP using this Google Form.
