Alumni Meet President Nair
The Arcadia University Alumni Association kicked off its “Meet President Nair” event series with a rooftop reception for Arcadia alumni at The Continental Mid-town in Center City, Philadelphia on July 31.
More than 75 guests joined President Ajay Nair, his wife Paayal, and his children, Krishna and Rani, for the evening. Alumni Association President Kerry Costello Leraris ’92, ’94MEd offered welcoming remarks, commenting on her experience meeting Dr. Nair at Alumni Weekend in May that, “He was able to reignite a passion for our alma mater in many of our fellow alumni that day.”
Alumni from the Classes of 1959 through 2018 who attended the reception on The Continental’s rooftop listened as Dr. Nair introduced his family and discussed the frequently asked questions he has received since joining the University. He shared updates on the Arcadia UKnighted initiative and delivered a call to action for alumni to join the process of collaborating with the Arcadia community by answering key questions to help shape the future of their alma mater. Jeff Spence, assistant vice president for Alumni Engagement and Communications, informed guests that following the event, the President’s Office would share a survey asking them to contribute responses to those questions.
The Alumni Association’s event series includes receptions and luncheons designed to provide opportunities for alumni to meet Dr. Nair and for him to engage with the generations of Arcadia and Beaver College graduates who are a vital part of the University community.
In August, Dr. Nair and his family attended two “Meet President Nair” alumni events in New York City, meeting with graduates for a reception at BEA on Aug. 14, and at a luncheon at The Smith Midtown on Aug. 15. Each event drew more than 20 alumni and guests of varying class years from the Classes of 1954 through 2018 who live and work in the New York area.
The Alumni Association has planned additional summer events in King of Prussia, Pa. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, and in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, Sept. 13. Future programs are being planned, including in northern and southern California, Arizona, Florida, and London.
