Global Road Warrior. Full-text, updated continuously. Information about culture, demographics, and business etiquette for 175 countries.

LexisNexis. Full text, 1980s - present. Lexis Nexis provides full-text documents from over 5,600 news, business, legal, medical, and reference publications. Some of this information includes:

  • National and regional newspapers, wire services, broadcast transcripts, international news, and non-English language sources.
  • U.S. Federal and state case law, codes, regulations, legal news, law reviews, and international legal information.
  • Shepard’s® Citations for all U.S. Supreme Court cases back to 1789.
  • Business news journals, company financial information, SEC filings and reports, and industry and market news.

Academic Search Premier. Some full-text, 1970s – present. More than 4,500 journals on all different subjects: psychology, business, education, chemistry, and more. Academic Search Premier Tutorial.

OMNISelect. Full-text, 1980s - present. Contains all the same journals as Wilson Select Plus, but with a different search interface. 2,700 journals from many fields, including: business, education, social sciences, science.

Department of State Background Notes. Government, politics, history and foreign relations.

Library of Congress Country Profiles. Short but comprehensive overview of government, economics, and politics.

CIA World Fact Book (CIA World Fact Book. Basic overview with statistics and a focus on international issues (illegal drug and human trafficking, current international disputes).

BBC Country Profiles. Basic overview information & facts about media and freedom of the press.

Country Statistics

Nation Master. This is a great tool for country comparisons across a huge range of topics. It is also a good place to find sources for statistics.

To search: Go to the Country A-Z list at the top of the website, select your country, select the topic area you wish to find statistics for, and then click on “all stats.”

Country Statistical Yearbooks. These yearbooks include statistical data on a country’s population, economy, society, education, culture, and more.

United Nations Statistics Division

Global Edge Database of International Statistics. Register for a free account to view this database of international business and trade statistics. This resource pulls freely available data together in one location from many different online sources.

OffStats. Country statistics from official sources gathered from across the internet. This site is earchable by country, region, or topic. It is a good place to find sources for statistics.

Search Tips

  1. Click on “National Trade Data.”
  2. Pick either “Global Patterns” to search for export data on a product type to all countries or “Product Profiles” to search based on a particular country or region.
  3. Click the change button under the “product” module to search for you particular trade good. You can pick your product based on different industry codes.
