Information Technology Student Resources

Arcadia Technology Information

Information Technology has crafted guidelines to help provide you with the best learning experience possible. While attending or participating in courses online may be new to some of you, here are some tips to ensure that your academic progress stays on track:

  1. Check your messages regularly: Faculty may try to reach you via your Arcadia email or through the Canvas inbox. Check both often.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the applications that might be used in your courses.
  1. Expect instructors to update course syllabi to accommodate the shift to online teaching. Be sure to communicate regularly with your instructors and update them if you encounter issues.
  2. For technical issues, contact helpdesk@arcadia.edu.
  3. Be sure you have access to reliable WiFi and a computer/device (tablet, phone, etc.)

Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe has ended their extension of free access to Creative Cloud for Students.  We are working on a process in which students will have remote access to lab computers that are running our software.  This will enable you to still have access to the tools you need for your class.  Please check back soon for updates on how to access these machines.

Please contact the help desk at helpdesk@arcadia.edu if you have any issues or concerns.

Connectivity for students who don't have it:

  • FCC agreement stating that providers will waive late fees, not cutoff service for lack of payment, and open hot-spots.
  • Comcast COVID-19 response: offers free WiFi for 2 months to low income families plus all Xfinity hot-spots are free to the public during this time
  • Charter Free Internet offer for 2 months
  • AT&T COVID-19 response: offers open hot-spots, unlimited data to existing customers, and $10/month plans to low income families
  • Verizon COVID-19 response: no special offers, but following the FCC agreement.
  • Sprint COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, provides unlimited data to existing customers, and, starting Tuesday, 3/17/2020, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge (I expect others will follow).
  • T-Mobile COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, plus unlimited data to existing customers, and, coming soon, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge (I expect others will follow).
