IPCR Student Blogs from UN Climate Change Convention in South Africa

December 2, 2011

Christa Lane Hooper, a master’s student pursuing a dual degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) and Public Health, is an official observer at the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Durban, South Africa—and she’s providing an inside look at what’s happening on her blog, christalanehooper.wordpress.com.

In a Nov. 29 post Hooper describes the venue of the Climate Smart Cape Town exhibit as

... an oasis of calm with a lounge-like feel in the midst of constant activity. Not only is the structure made from recycled materials, it is also reinforced with wood floors – wood obtained from an invasive species tree cutting off water supplies in many areas of South Africa.

Hooper is also writing for Initiatives of Change and will post dispatches from the Conference at iofcenvironment.wordpress.com.
