PV Magazine: Onyx Solar Installs Photovoltaic System in Commons

March 1, 2012

On Feb. 29 PV Magazine reported that Arcadia University's new Commons features a solar energy system—a Solar Onyx photovoltaic brise soleil.

"This custom solution overhangs a balcony in the Commons building and consists of two types of UL certified semi-transparent photovoltaic glasses designed to meet the building committee’s architectural, sustainability and energy conservation requirements. The BIPV system will generate 4.8 kWh power per year and avoid 2.56 tons of CO2 emissions," according to the report.

"The energy savings gained from Onyx Solar’s photovoltaic solution will help the University contain energy costs without sacrificing the students’ academic on-campus experience." This is just one of the "green" features of the new student center. Read more about the Commons, a smart building that harvests nature's bounty.
