The Mercury: Mattiola Supports Ending Discrimination Against LGBT Pennsylvanians

September 10, 2014

Chantel Mattiola, a graduate of Arcadia University’s International Peace and Conflict Resolution program, spoke outside of the Pottstown Borough Hall on Aug. 7 to show her support for House Bill 300, which bans discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Pennsylvanians.

The following excerpt from Mattiola’s speech, which followed speeches given by Equality PA spokeswoman Sarah Spohn, State Representative Mark Painter, and Rabbi Beth Kalisch, was quoted in The Mercury’s article “Equality PA, Rep. Painter show support for LGBT community”:

The last speaker was Chantel Mattiola, a local graduate student of Arcadia University, who said, “Most of the peers I know are surprised to learn that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students would not necessarily be protected from discrimination if they decided to work and live in Pennsylvania.”
