Arcadia University International Studies major Natalie Marshall ’16 isn’t changing her plan to spend the semester in Paris, despite three days of attacks in the city beginning with the Jan. 7 shooting in the offices of Charlie Hebdo. She wrote about following through with her decision in “Viewpoint: Why Students Should Not Worry About Studying in Paris,” in USA Today College on Jan. 12.
When I applied to spend the spring 2015 semester in Paris, I pictured myself relaxing in posh cafés, shopping in open-air markets and studying in one of the city’s famous libraries. What I did not imagine was being thrust into a fragile Paris after three days of terror shook the city.
