At the Honors Convocation on March 28, Dr. Laura Conway, assistant professor and assistant director of the Genetic Counseling program, received the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award in recognition of her outstanding classroom teaching. Dr. Conway was nominated for the award by multiple faculty members and students who commented on her sense of humor, saintliness, dedication to her profession and good taste in music.
One nominee noted that Conway has “the rare gift of taking incredibly complex concepts, breaking them down into manageable chunks and then helping put them back together again to show the big picture.”
Dr. Conway, a 1999 graduate of the Genetic Counseling Program, joined the faculty in 2004. She is also the Academic Coordinator of Research Education and currently serves as the treasurer for the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
