At this year’s May Graduate Commencement, Dr. Peter Siskind, assistant professor of history and chair of the historical and political studies department, received the 2015 Lloyd M. Abernethy Faculty Outstanding Service Award, presented every two years to a full-time faculty member or professional librarian for exceptional service to Arcadia.
“Dr. Siskind’s peers describe him as a ‘tireless, inclusive, visionary shepherd,’” said Dr. Barbara Nodine, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, during the award presentation. “His department colleagues...praise his selfless leadership and patient mentorship.”
Dr. Siskind specializes in American political and environmental history. Prior to becoming chair of the historical and political studies department, he served as interim dean of Undergraduate Studies and as director of University Seminars, and last fall he became president of Arcadia’s first Faculty Senate. Dr. Siskind joined Arcadia in 2004 after teaching at Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania.
