Former Resident Director at The College of Global Studies Publishes Article on Early Medieval Ireland and Europe

September 17, 2015 Christopher Sarachilli

Dr. Colin Ireland, former resident director at The College of Global Studies’ Dublin center, recently published an article in Early Medieval Ireland and Europe: Chronology, Contacts, Scholarship: A Festschrift for Dáibhí Ó Cróinín, an anthology that discusses the cultural interactions that took place between Ireland, Britain, and the Continent during the early middle ages.

Dr. Ireland's article, "Some Irish Characteristics of the Whitby Life of Gregory the Great," details the Irish narrative features of the anonymous Vita Gregorii, produced at Whitby in the eighth century and among the earliest of the hagiographical works to come from Anglo-Saxon England.

A summary of the volume can be found online.
