Dr. Kathleen Mangione published two articles in Physical Therapy, recently. The first, “Rethinking Hospital-Associated Deconditioning: Proposed Paradigm Shift,” details the dangers of stigmatizing and not addressing the declining physical functionality in older adults. The second, “Progressive multi-component home-based physical therapy for deconditioned older adults following acute hospitalization: A pilot randomized controlled trial,” explains the outcomes of an experiment involving older adults on a progressive exercise regime in their homes.
