On Nov. 5, Dr. Doreen Loury, assistant professor of sociology, moderated a town hall discussion at Philadelphia’s Painted Bride Art Center on the need to support historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), as reported by The Philadelphia Tribune.

Declining enrollment and lower-than-average graduation rates have challenged HBCUs in recent years, leading to the panel discussion on how to save the schools. Dr. Loury guided the discussion with several prominent HBCU alumni.
