On Feb. 26, the School of Global Business hosted the third installment of its “Sport Management Speaker Series,” featuring Brad Ludwig, manager of group sales for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs minor league baseball team, which is a Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Ludwig shared his career path including working at a community center, interning at a software development firm, and, ultimately, landing his current sales position. He revealed the rebranding obstacles that the IronPigs overcame in an effort to start a team in a new market, as well as gain national exposure.
Ludwig was very frank about the challenges that come along with a career in sports, such as the long hours, competitive entry, and lean salaries. Overall, students were encouraged to network as much as possible, sign up for internships early in their college careers, and be open to relocating.
