Arcadia University welcomed The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia to campus for a third time on Sept. 21. Fourteen Authorized Trade Representatives—acting on behalf of 46 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania—met with business owners in the Commons Great Room to discuss moving into international markets. Students were invited to sit in on these meetings to gain insight and explore potential careers in international business.

Meeting with global representatives also served as an excellent networking opportunity for students. Observing real-world business transactions help students gain confidence and prepares them to be better equipped to pursue future opportunities.

Christal Montero ’18, an International Business and Culture major, was one of 30 students attending the event. She observed a meeting with representatives from Central and Eastern Europe, during which she learned export and import methods for different countries, as well as how to find new distributors.

“It was great to see what other countries need from the U.S. and what the U.S. can provide in return,” Montero said. “It was also really interesting to hear how many countries the representative visited throughout her career.”
