On Oct. 26, more than 60 Arcadia students networked and discussed internship and full-time career opportunities with four dozen representatives from some of the nation’s leading business, finance, and technological companies at the Knights Networking Series Business and Tech Night. Hosted by the Office of Career Education, the event featured a wide range of employers, including Ditech Financial LLC, Chestnut Hill Business District, Aflac, DFC Global Corp, New Penn Financial, SEI - Investment Manager Services, U.S. Department of Justice, and Vanguard.
The event was shaped around a speed networking style and followed by an open reception, where students could engage individually with recruiters and speak more in depth about potential opportunities.
“I was thrilled by the employers' feedback on how smart, engaging and polished our students were during the networking night,” said Marissa Deitch, director of Career Education. “Students and recruiters easily engaged throughout the two-hour event, learning about one another and making connections through small group conversations.”
Students in attendance noted that the event’s structure made it easy to establish connections with a wide variety of employers and removed any of the intimidation of approaching the organizations’ representatives.
The Oct. 26 Career Education event was the second such event in as many weeks, following the Life Sciences and Healthcare Night on Oct. 18. Rachel McPherson ’19, who attended the Oct. 18 event, spoke of how the networking series provides a wonderful opportunity to make connections to businesses in the Greater Philadelphia area, as well as explore options to further her education.
“The inclusion of graduate school programs was a thoughtful addition for those of us unsure of whether we want to enter the job pool directly following graduation,” said McPherson. “I greatly appreciate the chance to build lasting relationships with other professionals in my field. I look forward to future events from the Office of Career Education."
