Dom Bierwisch ’18, a Chemistry major, was invited to speak at a music and gaming symposium after presenting his Honors project on the driving forces behind the growing industry of eSports at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Consortium for Higher Education Honors Conference. eSports are digital competitions facilitated through electronic systems, typically an online multiplayer video game.
Dr. Joey Gawrysiak, assistant professor of Sport Management at Shenandoah University, heard Bierwisch’s presentation and asked him to present at the annual Music and Gaming Educational Symposium in Oxon Hill, Md., in January. Bierwisch spoke on a specialty panel that conducted an open discussion on what eSports are, and the current state of the industry.
“It was amazing to be included in a panel with people who have made an impact on eSports,” Bierwisch said.
