The Math and Computer Science Department hosted the STEM Professional Panel on Feb. 25, which was held virtually this year.
Panelists, which included Arcadia graduates, were from computer science, actuarial science, data science, teaching, and engineering fields and discussed their professional career paths, offered advice, and answered student questions. Panelists spoke about the impact of their educational experiences on their career paths, as well as emphasized the importance of networking.
For Actuarial Science major Jeremy Harman ’23, who was among the 35 Arcadia students to attend, this was the second time he participated in this event. He noted that last year the event provided him more insight into his major and career opportunities, and he didn’t want to pass up the opportunity this year.
“If your major is in the STEM field, you should absolutely attend this panel,” Harman said. “Not only can you gain some insight on specific things about the field that you may be going into, but you can also connect with those people that are there. They said that it could be crucial for you to get a job in the future.”
After the event, students were encouraged to connect with the panelists through email and LinkedIn.
