Political Science majors Nicole Franiok ’18, Erika Raskay ’18, and Cameron Allen ’18 presented research at the fifth annual Pi Sigma Alpha National Student Research Conference in Washington, D.C., in February.

Franiok and Raskay’s presentations were based on their Senior Capstone research topics, “Process Tracing the USA PATRIOT Act: Anti-Money Laundering to Counter Terrorist Finance” and “Using Curriculum to Improve Civic Engagement in High School Students: an Examination of Classroom-Based Solutions,” respectively.

Allen presented “Political Polarization: The Strength of Party Leaders and the Rise of Contemporary Polarization,” examining the effect this contrast has had on government productivity and public perceptions of trust.

Dr. Maryam Deloffre, associate professor of Political Science, worked closely with the students to prepare their application materials and presentations.
