Jeff Spence joined Arcadia University in May 2014 as Director of Alumni Relations. In this role, he oversees and develops events, programs, and partnership opportunities that keep Arcadia and Beaver College alumni informed, in touch, involved, and invested in their alma mater. Through the development of meaningful alumni engagement opportunities, Spence helps to strengthen the alumni-to-alumni, alumni-to-students, and alumni-to-Arcadia networks, keeping alumni connected to each other, our students, and our University.
Prior to joining Arcadia, Spence spent 14 years in the Drexel University Office of Institutional Advancement, 11 of which were in the Office of Alumni Relations. From 2009-2014, he served as Director of Internal Operations in the Office of Alumni Relations. In that role, Spence helped to develop new programming initiatives and engagement strategies for the University's 145,000 alumni, which from 2006-2013 grew the number of alumni events by 137%, event attendance by 71%, the number of alumni volunteers by 300%, and non-event engagement by 225%. He served on the management team for the Office of Alumni Relations and oversaw the office's internal operations during the University’s $455 million "Dream It. Do It. Drexel." comprehensive campaign.
During his tenure, the Drexel Office of Alumni Relations was recognized by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Accolades Awards with the 2013 Grand Gold Award for Alumni Relations Programs, the 2013 Grand Gold Award for New Program Initiatives in Alumni Relations Programs, a 2013 Bronze Award for Programming for Special Constituencies in Alumni Relations Programs, and a 2010 Gold Award for Collaborative Programs in Alumni Relations Programs. The office also received two Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX): in 2011 in the One to Two Person-Produced Web and Intranet Sites category and in 2013 in the Newsletter – Electronic & Web category. The office also received a 2015 CASE District II Silver Accolade Award for Best Practices in Alumni Relations.
