Dr. Rebecca E. Kohn is the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Arcadia University. In this role, she fosters liberal arts and science education in the context of a university setting, which provides opportunities for thoughtful inquiry and application of knowledge and skills. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at Dartmouth College where she also took courses in art and Russian and participated in a study abroad experience in the Soviet Union. As a graduate student, she earned a Ph.D. in Biology at Johns Hopkins University exploring transcriptional regulation. While a postdoctoral fellow at the Oklahoma Medial Research Foundation, she developed a neuroscience research program designed to be accessible for undergraduate researchers. She first pursued a career in academia as a faculty member in the Biology department at Ursinus College where she balanced her interests in teaching and research. As a Fulbright Fellow, she developed a collaborative research program with a laboratory in Santiago, Chile. She later transitioned into administrative roles as a way to develop campus wide programming in support of students’ educational experiences, becoming the Senior Associate Dean of the College. She is very happy to be part of the community at Arcadia University and for the opportunity to contribute to the academic life of the College of Arts and Sciences.
