Pianist Stefanie Watson enjoys being active in a wide variety of musical facets: as recital collaborator, educator, choral pianist, choir director, and church musician, to name a few. She regularly performs in and organizes recitals in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and her home state of Maryland. Stefanie has previously performed in Leibnitz, Austria as well, where she has served as staff pianist for Lied Austria International, a month-long summer program dedicated to the study and performance of the German Lied. In addition to frequent choral and vocal accompanying, she is a staff pianist and works with the Lyric Theater program at The College of New Jersey. She is frequently a keyboardist for instrumental ensembles including the Adelphi Orchestra, Garden State Philharmonic, and Eastern Wind Symphony, and has worked as a rehearsal pianist for the Princeton Festival's opera productions since 2009. Stefanie has participated in many collaborative music programs, including the Bennington Chamber Music Conference (VT), SongFest (CA), Chautauqua (NY), where she has been a scholarship recipient and has performed in masterclasses with pianists Martin Katz, Graham Johnson, and Rebecca Penneys.
In addition to her performance schedule, Stefanie has taught piano privately in the central New Jersey area since 2007. On the collegiate level, she is an adjunct piano faculty member of Arcadia University, and also co-teaches a University Seminar on the Psychology of Music. Stefanie is also Music Director at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New Brunswick, NJ where she leads weekly worship and conducts an adult choir and a three-octave handbell and handchime choir. Stefanie holds degrees in Collaborative Piano (M.M.) from Rutgers University and in Piano Performance (B.A.) from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
