Each summer, students from China’s Jiangsu University attend Arcadia to complete the last two years of their mathematics and actuarial science degrees. This year, students from Jiangsu were unable to come to the United States due to Covid-19, but their American education isn’t being held off.
After graduating from Lehigh University, I worked for three years in the Japan Exchange and Teaching, or JET, Programme as an Assistant Language Teacher in Miyagi, Japan. I enjoyed my teaching experience so much that I returned to the U.S. to get my Master of Arts in Education at Stanford University. As a former English as a Second Language instructor and current director of the English Language Institute, I look forward to meeting students from various countries every semester because they invariably teach me something new about their cultures and customs and give me a different perspective of America.
