Muhammad worked on creating a Streamlined Dermatology App that guides a patient from when they first notice their symptoms to the end of their treatment. There are a lot of barriers that are faced by patients as they are on this journey. For example, healthcare providers and pharmacies may not accept their insurance and no dermatology specialists are located near their residence. Sometimes, patients leave drugs because they think the medications are not working and some drug manufacturers are unaware of the adverse effects that their drugs are incurring. The developed app would address all these issues by connecting different industries and healthcare providers through this app with the patients. The patients would take photos of the affected areas on their body and be diagnosed via healthcare provider or machine learning algorithms, have their history pulled from healthcare exchange, ship their drug prescription and receive notifications reminding them to take the drugs, answer surveys, etc.
Alex worked on OncMate App which is a patient-centered assistant that targets vulnerable oncology patients based on social determinants of health. OncMate texts patients, providing easy access for all patients — even those without a smartphone. Overall, the hope is that OncMate can assist and engage our most vulnerable oncology patients whilst helping them achieve a better quality of life.
