Arcadia Exhibitions is pleased to announce “Student Biennial 2026”, which will be on display January 20 – April 5, 2026, in the Harrison Gallery. This exhibition is the eleventh in a series at Arcadia featuring works by current students juried by an esteemed visiting arts professional. This year’s juror is Gerard Silva, director of exhibitions and community outreach, Fleisher Art Memorial Philadelphia.
CALL FOR ENTRIES GUIDELINES
All Arcadia students registered for classes during Fall 2025 are eligible to submit up to three works.
- Entries in all mediums are encouraged.
- Artworks completed outside of class or independent of class assignments are welcome and actively encouraged.
- There are no size restrictions.
- Photographic documentation of installations or large sculptural works may be submitted in lieu of the actual object for juror consideration. (Submitting examples of the types of materials used in these pieces in addition to the photo documentation is recommended.)
Presentation
- For 2D works, framing is preferred but not necessary for submission.
- If an unframed work is selected there is a possibility that framing will be required for exhibition.
- Unframed works on paper must be submitted in a portfolio (or a suitable protective enclosure) labeled with the artist’s name.
Please ensure that all works are delivered to the Art Office in the Spruance Art Center with entry forms firmly attached, one on each submitted work.

About the Juror
Gerard Silva is a conceptual and text-based artist, curator, writer and educator. He has degrees in studio art, photography, communications and Spanish Literature. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico to biracial parents, he spent a large part of his life in New York City. In addition, he has lived in London, Madrid and in many U.S. cities before deciding to settle in Philadelphia.
He has worked at Fleisher Art Memorial for over 17 years in many roles and currently holds the Exhibitions and Community Outreach Director position. He occasionally teaches screen printing with emphasis on social justice as well as conceptual art practice workshops. He is responsible for organizing the El Día de los Muertos celebrations and the Indonesian Festival in South Philadelphia. He is in charge of the prestigious Wind Challenge exhibitions which showcase emerging local artists in our region.
Silva works closely with different organizations throughout Philadelphia including Modero & Company, Laos in the House, CAGE, William Way, the Leeway Foundation, Asian Arts Initiative, The Philadelphia Latino Film Festival and Casa de Venezuela. He also works with organizations serving immigrants such as Juntos, Puentes de Salud, Taller Puertorriqueño, HIAS PA and Seamaac, Gapura and The Welcoming Center. Prior to this, he held a position as an art director for an advertising agency in New York.
