AIGA Philadelphia will hold an opening for the exhibition This is My Philly on Friday, Sept. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. Now in its fourth year, This is My Philly is a partnership between the design organization AIGA Philadelphia and the PhillySpells Writing Lab, a local organization that provides free writing workshops and after-school tutoring for a diverse mix of kids and teens. Assistant Professor of Visual and Performing Arts David Copestakes was one of the developers of the program, and Graphic Design students from Arcadia University have participated each year so far. Recently, Brittni Albright, Brianna Carroll, Jonathan Park, Tori Page, David Robinson, and Victoria VanSant mentored youth from the Philadelphia area as they designed posters about their neighborhoods. The exhibition will be on display at AIGA Philadelphia’s Space until Sept. 30.
