Dear Arcadia University Community,
The Board of Trustees announced that effective March 8, 2013, Carl (Tobey) Oxholm III would no longer serve as President of Arcadia University, and that Dr. Nicolette DeVille Christensen has been named Chief Operating Officer (COO), assuming all the relevant responsibilities of a University President.
While the circumstances leading up to this decision may leave questions, it would be inappropriate for the University to disclose confidential information about any student or employee, including the President.
Arcadia University’s Board is dedicated to making decisions that are in the best interest of the University. As a proud member of the Class of 1980 and Chair of the Board of Trustees, the responsibility of helping to shape Arcadia’s future is one I take very seriously.
I can share with you that the Board has complete confidence in Dr. Christensen as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Arcadia University. A respected and resolute leader of The College of Global Studies, she oversees administrative, academic, enrollment, finance, financial aid, marketing and student services units worldwide — responsibilities applicable to those of a University President. Her career distinctions in international and higher education include earning a Fulbright-Hays Scholarship, and serving as department chair and tenured faculty member. Dr. Christensen is firmly committed to the mission and success of Arcadia University.
Over the next few months, I look forward to our continued work on the University’s Strategic Plan. Arcadia University, as a vital and strong institution, will remain focused on the academic success of our students.
