Earn PA Teacher Certification in Reading Specialist, PK-12
This certification program develops an in-depth knowledge of literacy research, theory and practice in ways that can provide leadership in local schools and school districts. You can pursue Reading Specialist PreK-12 certification as an initial certification program or to add to existing instructional certificates.
The master’s degree is not required for certification. Certification requirements need to be determined with their academic advisor as the requirements may vary based on academic background.

This hands-on introductory course investigates all facets of literacy processes based on the latest research. You will completed 20 hours of fieldwork to gain practical and theoretical knowledge about teaching literacy to early and emergent readers and writers.
Strategic Instruction for Emergent and Content Literacy, K-6
This course addresses research-based instructional strategies for teaching literacy (including language development, reading, writing, and speaking) to K-6 learners, as well as practical and effective modifications for diverse learners (including struggling readers, English language learners, and students with disabilities in reading).
