Alumni Fund Walk of Pride
The Alumni Fund Walk of Pride is an exquisite pedestrian walkway constructed of interlocking paving stones, suitable for engraving. The Alumni Fund Walk of Pride begins at the Grey Towers Castle, winds past the Wishing Well and ends at newly renovated Dining Hall Complex. Located at the very center of Arcadia's campus and created to complement the surroundings and grounds, this walkway offers a unique opportunity to recognize Arcadia University's loyal alumni. Now, and for decades to come, alumni can be a visible part of the daily life on campus by inscribing their names on one of the walkway's pavers.
Designed in a basket weave pattern, The Alumni Fund Walk of Pride is made from of 4" by 8" autumn-red concrete pavers framed by castle-grey pavers of the same size. In recognition of new and/or continued support of the Alumni Fund, alumni are invited to purchase pavers inscribed with their name and class year. Individual pavers will be placed in The Alumni Fund Walk of Pride's entranceway, just adjacent to the Castle. The autumn-red pavers in the entranceway have been reserved for alumni who graduated before 1995; the castle-grey pavers have been reserved for alumni of the Graduate Studies Program. Pavers for alumni graduating after 1995 are placed in an area of the walkway near the Dining Complex.
Pavers are ordered once a year in the early spring and installed just prior to Reunion each year. The cost of each paver is $150. Alumni can arrange to pay either by check or by credit card. Please call the Annual Fund Office at 215-572-2124. It is important to have everyone's order well in advance of Reunion to ensure their installation before the event, so please reply as early as possible.
History
The Alumni Fund Walk of Pride was dedicated on Saturday, November 15, 1997. A plaque at the entranceway reads:
The Walk of Pride was officially inaugurated during Reunion Weekend 1998. To date, there are over 1,500 pavers on the Walk: 852 recognize the names of alumni who graduated before 1995; 594 recognize the names of alumni who graduated from 1995 onward; and 74 pavers represent the names of alumni from the graduate studies program.
Current Classes and Eligibility
Alumni who have not yet celebrated their fifth Reunion are invited to purchase pavers on The Alumni Fund Walk of Pride through the Senior Class Challenge Program. All these young alumni have to do is make consecutive annual gifts to the Alumni Fund. If their gifts total $125 by the fifth Reunion, they will automatically qualify for an inscribed paver.
