Biography
Dr. Lidyvez Sawyer is a nationally recognized scholar-practitioner and health equity
strategist with over 15 years of experience advancing inclusive leadership across public
health and higher education. At Arcadia University’s Public Health Program, she
designs and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses that explore health equity,
antiracism, global health, and the social determinants of health.
Guided by interdisciplinary learning and practical application, Dr. Sawyer empowers
students to become catalysts for change. Her innovative, student-centered curricula
prepare future public health leaders to confront systemic health disparities and drive
equity on both local and global levels, advancing Arcadia’s mission of civic and
international engagement.
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Sawyer is a nationally sought-after equity-focused strategy
and leadership development consultant. She has led transformative initiatives with
organizations such as the National Healthy Start Association and the National Institute
for Children’s Health Quality, advancing maternal health equity and informing inclusive
healthcare policy.
Dr. Sawyer holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management and a Master
of Public Health from Drexel University. Her scholarly contributions include peer-
reviewed publications and policy development, notably contributing to the White
House’s Blueprint for Addressing the Maternal Health Crisis.
