Loury Receives Education Award from BWEA

Dr. Doreen Loury, assistant professor of African American studies and director, Act 101 Program, was honored as a Montgomery County Trailblazer by the Black Women’s Educational Alliance (BWEA) of Montgomery County and also received their Education Award for 2013 on Dec. 7 in Springhouse, Pa.

In addition Loury, who also serves as executive director of the Black Male Development Symposium, has been invited by the Cheltenham area branch of the NAACP and JSPAN (Jewish Social Policy Action Network) to be a panelist for their 4th Annual Martin Luther King Memorial Program titled “Mass Incarceration.” The program will be held on Monday, Jan. 20, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, 8339 Old York Rd., in Elkins Park.
