Arcadia’s Forensic Science Program hosted and participated in several events in celebration of August’s National Forensic Science Week. The week recognized the importance of forensic science in crime scene investigation and those who practice forensic science.

Faculty and students of the Master of Science in Forensic Science program partnered with The Franklin Institute on Aug. 10 for a forensic science and environmental profiling event. Visitors were invited to “get the dirt on soil” and learn how trace evidence analysis can be used in investigations. The Institute also hosted a mock crime scene exhibit where other areas of forensic science were explored.

On Aug. 12, students partnered with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Bomb and Hazardous Device Disposal Unit for training scenarios in anticipation of Pope Francis’ appearance in Philadelphia this September. The training exercise was covered by The Intelligencer and Montgomery News and featured in NBC10’s nightly broadcast.
