Arcadia University Recognized as Military Friendly® School for Seventh Consecutive Year

By Christopher Sarachilli | November 5, 2015

Arcadia University is proud to announce that it has been named a 2016 Military Friendly® School by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs, STEM Jobs, and Military Spouse. The list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities, and trade schools in the country doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus. This marks the seventh consecutive year that Arcadia has earned such distinction, based on military support on campus, graduation and employment outcomes, military spouse policies, and other criteria.

Arcadia awards American Council on Education credit for military training and accepts transfer credits. The University also participates in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. This Yellow Ribbon Program allows post-secondary institutions in the United States to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the Veterans Administration (VA) to fund tuition expenses that exceed the VA’s set reimbursement rate. The institution can contribute up to 50 percent of tuition and fees through the Yellow Ribbon program, which the VA will match.

“Post-secondary institutions earning the 2016 Military Friendly School award have exceptionally strong programs for transitioning service members and spouses,” said Daniel Nichols, chief product officer of Victory Media and a Navy Reserve veteran. “Our Military Friendly Schools are truly aligning their military programs and services with employers to help students translate military experience, skills, and training into successful careers after graduation.”

For the 2015-16 academic year, the VA will reimburse up to $21,084.89 in net tuition and fees for those eligible for full Yellow Ribbon benefits. Once the $21,084.89 is deducted from net tuition and fees (net tuition and fees figure reported to the VA is the amount due for tuition and fees after institutional merit aid already awarded has been deducted), Arcadia and the VA will split the remaining balance.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is available to all undergraduate and graduate students at Arcadia who qualify for Yellow Ribbon benefits, provided they are matriculating in a VA-approved program.
