Over the summer, political science major Alex Merker ’17 was one of four people to intern with the Pennsylvania Department of State’s Bureau of Commissions, Elections, and Legislations in Harrisburg, Pa. The internship, obtained through the James A. Finnegan Foundation, allowed Merker to assist with several research projects for the Bureau, including a paper on New Citizen Voter Registration that was included by the Secretary of State in the Conference of State Secretaries. Merker also assisted with voting in the primaries, verifying electronic voting records.
