Profitt ’11 to Host Art and Design Alumni Lecture

By RetterJ | November 20, 2017

The Department of Art and Design will host another installment of its Alumni Lecture Series on Thursday, Nov. 30 in the University Commons Great Room from 5:30 to 7 p.m. “Watching You, Judging You” will explore Krista Profitt’s career as an artist since receiving her BFA from Arcadia in 2011.

The lecture corresponds with Profitt’s exhibition “Shavers, Savers, Mansplainers,” on display in the Harrison and Rosedale Galleries in the University Commons through Dec. 3. The display in the Harrison Gallery is a satirical exploration of institutional authority, social standards of beauty, and gender inequality, while the exhibition in the Rosedale Gallery is a selection of Profitt’s paintings from 2011 to 2015.

After graduating from Arcadia, Profitt received her MFA in Painting from Illinois State University in 2015. This year, she co-founded the Spillway Collective in Philadelphia’s Crane Arts Building. She also teaches in Drawing and Foundations as an adjunct professor of Art and Design at Arcadia.

The event is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception in the Harrison Gallery. This is the sixth iteration of Arcadia’s Alumni Spotlight Exhibition.
