“SEIZE THE DAY“
Season 2023-24: MOMENTS THAT TRANSFORM US
NOTE FROM KEVIN GLACCUM, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR:
Seize the Day. Carpe Diem. Live in the moment. These phrases encourage us to live life to the fullest. Arcadia Theater’s 2023-24 season tells stories of people whose lives were changed in an instant. Whether by accident or on purpose, characters in these plays make decisions that have consequences, both positive and negative, that they hadn’t anticipated. These four productions will underline the importance of rising to the challenges life presents, of going beyond our comfort zone so that we may fully embrace life.
Arcadia University Theater provides the community with a season of professional quality productions that showcase the talents, passions, and dedication of our student artists. Productions are directed, designed, and choreographed by professional artists from Philadelphia’s vibrant theater scene.
Arcadia students get surprise Zoom visit from Broadway star Jonathan Groff
At a recent rehearsal for Arcadia Theater’s production of Spring Awakening: the Musical, Arcadia students got a surprise visit on Zoom from Broadway star Jonathan Groff (Hamilton, Merrily We Roll Along). Groff starred in the original Broadway cast of Spring Awakening along with the director of our production, Robi Hager. Our cast sang the musical’s closing number, “Purple Summer” for him. You can see the videos and more at our Instagram account.

By the end of 1928, all three Fail sisters will be dead — expiring in reverse order, youngest to oldest, from blunt object to the head, disappearance, and finally consumption. Tuneful songs, and a whimsical chorus follow the story of Nelly, Jenny June, and Gerty as they live out their lives above the family clock repair shop near the Chicago River, before their time unexpectedly runs out. A magical, musical fable where, in the end, the power of love is far greater than any individual’s successes or failures.
