The minor in Anthropology offers students the opportunity to explore the rich diversity of cultures around the world. Students majoring in fields such as Art and Design, Business, Media and Communications, Education, History, Politics, Government and Law, Philosophy, Law and Public Policy, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Medicine or Psychology will find that anthropological theory and method both complement and challenge their understanding of the world.
(20 credits) Students will be required to take (12 credits) AN120 Cultural Anthropology or AN 150 The Family as an introductory level course. Then students are required to take AN230 Reading Ethnography and AN370 Anthropological Theory to complete the minor core curriculum. Furthermore students must choose at least two Anthropology topic courses among those listed.
No more than two courses can jointly fulfill the requirements for the Sociology major or minor and the Anthropology minor. A minimum of eight courses must be taken to receive a double minor in Sociology and Anthropology.

Required Course
Family looks different around the world. This course explores marriage, kinship, and how families adapt across cultures and time. You'll examine global traditions and how social change impacts family life.
Required Course
What can we learn from how anthropologists write? This course explores ethnographies, real-world studies of cultures, and the ethics, theories, and writing styles that shape them. You’ll learn how to read culture like an anthropologist.
Elective Course
Tackle real-world social issues through the lens of anthropology. Topics change each year, but you’ll always explore how society, values, and power shape the world we live in. May be repeated for credit.
