The minor in Sociology provides an opportunity for students majoring in fields such as Criminal Justice and Criminology, Business, Media & Communications, Education, Political Science, Pre-Law, Pre-Physical Therapy and Psychology to select courses that will provide them with sociological and anthropological theory and research findings useful to their careers and enriching to their lives in the liberal arts tradition.
Required Course
Explore how society shapes individuals and groups. This course introduces core topics like culture, social structure, inequality, and social change. Special attention is given to class, race, gender, and sexuality. Includes discussion and group work.

Examine major feminist theories and how they explain gender roles and inequality. You’ll explore liberal, Marxist, psychoanalytic, and radical feminism while considering race, class, and sexuality in social and political contexts.
Elective Course
Study how health and human rights are connected across cultures and systems. You’ll analyze global case studies, international policies, and explore how protecting rights can improve health outcomes at both individual and community levels.
