June 9, 2011 Purnell Cropper

The Philadelphia Exhibitions Initiative (PEI) website notes that Ai Weiwei: Dropping the Urn, an exhibition developed by the Arcadia University Art Gallery, is making its way around the United States and the world.

Ai Weiwei: Dropping the Urn is the first solo exhibition of works by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei to be presented outside of New York City in the United States. The website notes that "... this exhibition—organized by the Arcadia University Art Gallery with funding from the Pew Center for the Arts—continues to travel freely. The exhibition opened on May 13 at the Knoxville Museum of Art. In the fall, it will cross the Atlantic to go on view at the Victorial & Albert Museum in London."

The exhibition will be in Knoxville through Aug. 7 and is at the Victoria & Albert Museum from October 2011 through March 2012.

Ai Weiwei: Dropping the Urn has been organized by Arcadia University Art Gallery and supported by the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through the Philadelphia Exhibitions Initiative. It is curated by Richard Torchia, Director of the Arcadia University Art Galley, and Gregg Moore, Associate Professor of Art.
