More than 150 students enjoyed a night of friendship, dancing and fun—and raised more than $500 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation—at the Winter Semi-Formal organized by the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and Intramurals and Recreation on Saturday, Dec. 10, in the Dome. (Photos on Flickr.)

“It was great that so many students were able to join us Saturday night. Without their support, this event never would have been a success, and it was great that so many recognized it was for such a good cause. I’m sure we will be having another event in the spring since this one was a blast! We are very fortunate to be helping the Make-A-Wish Foundation and being able to have a huge impact during the holidays,” said Amy Lupfer, SAAC President.

“It was a huge success, and Jack Jephson (Director of Intramurals and Recreation) jumped on board and was a huge help to us! Amy Lupfer was the driver behind this operation. The SAAC student-athletes worked so well together to make this happen,” Lorie Khalil, Head Women’s Basketball Coach.

“Kudos to you and your athletes, Coach! This is a great example of having fun and doing good—a great combination that will provide an example our students will be able to use throughout their lives as they assist worthy non-profits and charitable groups, wherever their lives take them,” responded Arcadia University President Carl (Tobey) Oxholm III.

The Arcadia University SAAC is made up of 23 student-athletes from 12 teams. These student-athletes were chosen by their coaches for their leadership, good attitude and commitment to making Arcadia athletics better. The group meets once a month and forms community service events and fundraising projects as well as discussing on-campus athletic event improvements and more.
