On Monday, Jan. 18, the Arcadia University Community and Civic Engagement Center (CCEC) will host its free annual MLK Day of Service shredding, eWaste, and repurposing event. The public can drop-off documents and electronics, along with gently used items and canned goods to help fulfill the wish lists of local organization, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Gently used items that are donated will help nearly a dozen area nonprofit organizations, including The Baby Bureau, Cradles to Crayons, Habitat for Humanity, Philabundance, Pennsylvania SPCA, and Philadelphia Reads. Some of the items CCEC would like to contribute to these organizations include clothes, books, toys, tools, working electronics, household items, used shoes, cell phones, pet supplies, and canned goods.

The eWaste drive will be collecting anything electronic or metal, with the exception of televisions and CRT monitors. The eWaste items will be recycled with 611 Recycling. Additionally, the shredding will provide a maximum security service.

A full list of wishlist items and acceptable eWaste can be found on the CCEC website.

CCEC is offering a drive-up service for the shredding, eWaste, and repurposing event. Community members dropping off items can drive into the Stiteler Auditorium/Murphy Hall parking area through the Easton Road entrance and have their car unloaded by volunteers.
