Dr. Conway Elected to Board of National Society of Genetic Counselors

Laura Conway ‘99M, Ph.D., CGC, assistant professor and associate director of the Genetic Counseling program, was elected to the board of directors of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) and will serve as the secretary/treasurer for two years.

Since the first master’s degrees in genetic counseling were granted in 1971, the NSGC has provided a network for professional communication to advance “the various roles of genetic counselors in health care by fostering education, research, and public policy.” Dr. Conway previously served as finance officer and chair of the NSGC’s Jane Engleberg Memorial Fellowship, which provides the largest competitive funding for certified genetic counselors pursuing research projects.

Dr. Conway graduated from Arcadia’s Genetic Counseling program in 1999 and joined the faculty in 2004. Her experience includes prenatal counseling and research focused on adapting to new technology in the genetic counseling field. In 2015, she received the Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching.
