Dr. Kate Bonin, assistant professor of modern languages, contributed the essay "Indiana and the Literary Island: Enlightenment Ideals, Nineteenth-Century Ironies" to Approaches to Teaching Sand's Indiana (Modern Language Association). The book collects teaching strategies for and critical analyses of George Sands' Indiana, a 19th-century novel set against a backdrop of French revolution, civil unrest, slave revolts, and limited rights for women.
