Arcadia University’s Actuarial Science program has qualified for the silver tier within the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) University Recognition Program. This comes on the heels of the program receiving bronze status in 2025.

To qualify for the silver tier, an institution must go beyond simple exposure to property and casualty actuarial careers and demonstrate meaningful curriculum alignment with CAS exam content and the property and casualty exam pathway. This includes integrating CAS-relevant coursework, providing experiential learning opportunities such as case studies or competitions, and maintaining active engagement with CAS professionals.

“Earning silver tier recognition from the CAS means our program has achieved meaningful national recognition for aligning its curriculum and student experiences with the standards of the P&C actuarial profession,” Irina Pogrebivsky, assistant professor and director of the Actuarial Science program, said. “Faculty and students should take pride in this distinction, as it reflects rigorous academic preparation, strong industry engagement, and a program that is respected by the profession itself.”

Arcadia’s program moved up to the silver tier quickly by incorporating several elements into the fall 2025 curriculum, including new case studies. As such, this allowed the program to align more closely with the exam pathways, thus earning the silver status.

“We are thrilled to honor universities through the CAS University Recognition Program,” Victor Carter-Bey, DM, CEO of CAS, said. “Recognition at the silver tier demonstrates that Arcadia is preparing their students for careers as property and casualty actuaries through their actuarial curriculum and real world experiences like research, case studies, and case competitions, and by placing CAS actuaries on their advisory board.”

Pogrebivsky hopes that the next generation of actuaries who are currently in high school will consider Arcadia for their studies.
“We hope that high school students interested in math, finance, and statistics will consider the actuarial science profession and Arcadia as one of the organizations providing the highest level of preparation recognized by both CAS and the Society of Actuaries Universities and Colleges with Actuarial Programs-Advanced Curriculum,” she said.
