Student Public Relations Specialists Recognized with National Star Chapter Award
Arcadia University’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) received national recognition with the 2025 Star Chapter Award, given by the PRSSA 2025-2026 International Committee and PRSSA National Headquarters to honor the chapter’s leadership, programming, and dedication to professional development.
“This recognition means a lot because the students have been working really hard to grow our chapter of PRSSA and strengthen our connection to PRSA Philadelphia,” said Dr. Chris Mullin, assistant professor of Media and Communication and faculty advisor to the chapter. “We are a small chapter, and in some ways we have to work even harder than some of the bigger universities in our area, which just have a lot more students. This award shows that small is still mighty!”
Widely regarded as a benchmark of excellence within the organization, the Star Chapter Award honors those whose leadership provides exceptional programming, fosters valuable relationship-building opportunities, and actively supports members’ professional growth. The award highlights chapters that go above and beyond in engaging their members, serving their communities, and advancing PRSSA’s mission on both the local and national levels.
“One thing that I have seen that has made me extremely proud is the way students have used their PR skills to help members of the greater Glenside community,” Mullin said. “Our leadership team visited Cheltenham High School last fall and spoke to students about careers in public relations and media. We also organized and promoted a canned food drive to support Arcadia’s Knight Resource Pantry.”
Arcadia’s chapter will build on this success by continuing to partner with PRSSA National and PRSA Philadelphia, with the hope that some students are able to attend the PRSSA ICON 2025 national conference in Washington, D.C., from Oct. 27-30.
