Award-winning Author Beth Kephart to Lead Creative Writing Weekend, Give Reading

Visiting Writer Beth Kephart will lead writing workshops June 27-28 as part of the MFA in Creative Writing program’s Summer Creative Writing Institute. In addition to teaching a private master class, Kephart will read passages from her books Small Damages, Going Over, One Thing Stolen, and This Is the Story of You (to be released next spring). The reading is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, at 3 p.m. and is open to the public.

The intensive weekend features introductory and intermediate workshops on fiction and poetry writing as well as an intermediate workshop on writing for children and young adults, all of which continue online. About Kephart

Kephart, author of 19 books, is a National Book Award finalist and a winner of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts fiction grant, a National Endowment for the Arts grant, a Leeway grant, a Pew Fellowships in the Arts grant, and the Speakeasy Poetry Prize, among other honors. She writes a monthly column on place and memory for The Philadelphia Inquirer, reviews literature for the Chicago Tribune, and has judged numerous literary competitions for the National Book Awards and PEN. Kephart was one of 50 Philadelphia writers chosen for the yearlong Philadelphia’s Literary Legacy celebration of authors, playwrights, and poets of the last 300 years.
